Courtney W. Campbell

Courtney Warren Campbell (April 29, 1895 - December 22, 1971) was a U.S. Representative from Florida.

Born in Chillicothe, Missouri, Campbell was educated in Westminster College, Fulton, Missouri, and the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. During World War I he served as a second lieutenant in the United States Army. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in Missouri and Florida in 1924 and practiced in Tampa, Florida from 1924 to 1928. He also worked as a farmer, citrus grower, banker, and land developer.

He served as assistant attorney general State of Florida. He served as member of the Florida War Labor Relations Board from 1941 to 1946. He served as member of the Florida State Road Board from 1942 to 1947. In 1948, the Davis Causeway across Tampa Bay was renamed the Courtney Campbell Causeway in honor of Campbell who spearheaded efforts to ensure needed repairs and beautification of the causeway were completed.

Campbell was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-third Congress (January 3, 1953-January 3, 1955). He was unsuccessful for reelection in 1954 to the Eighty-fourth Congress. He returned to his extensive business and civic interests and resided in Clearwater, Florida. He died in Dunedin, Florida, December 22, 1971. He was interred in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, Florida.
